Does the insurance company cover Traditional Chinese medicine treatment?

Most insurance companies cover "acupuncture", which also includes cupping, because they are based on acupoints and meridians. Please note that traditional Chinese medicine treatment is not covered under the Acupuncture program. Please contact your insurance company directly as to what percentage of the benefit you can claim. With patient authorization, the clinic can apply directly to most insurance companies, but some insurance company policies may require patients to apply directly, so be sure to review your own coverage terms.

I am a new patient. What should I prepare before the visit? What should I pay attention to when I see the doctor?

If you are a new patient, we need your cooperation in the following matters:

Please eat your meals carefully before visiting the doctor! Especially for acupuncture treatment, it is usually not recommended to start the course of treatment on an empty stomach or on a full stomach, unless you are specifically instructed by a Chinese medicine doctor.

If you have personal health insurance and would like the clinic to apply for your insurance directly, please bring your health insurance card with you. (Note: Some insurance plans may not allow us to directly apply for benefits for you. Please confirm your insurance plan in advance.)

If you are taking any prescription medications or health foods, please bring the information with you so we can have a better understanding of your condition.

If THIS IS YOUR FIRST VISIT TO OUR CLINIC, PLEASE ARRIVE 15 MINUTES EARLY TO FILL IN THE RELEVANT FORMS FOR YOUR INITIAL VISIT, SO THAT YOUR CHINESE MEDICINE DOCTOR CAN HAVE ENOUGH TIME TO REVIEW YOUR INFORMATION BEFORE THE CONSULTATION.

The body has acupoints all over the body, and the doctor will know which acupoints to place after the treatment plan is drawn up. Remind you to avoid wearing tight or one-piece clothes.

Does acupuncture hurt? What if I'm afraid of needles?

Not usually! Acupuncture needles are thinner than those used for ordinary injections, so insertion is almost painless. During the treatment, you may feel dull pain or heaviness at the treatment site. These are normal reactions, which are called "qi" in traditional Chinese medicine, and are important indicators of the correct place of needle application. In some cases, the Chinese medicine practitioner may need to gently twist or move the needle to provide stronger stimulation to the acupoint. This may cause very brief discomfort. If you wish to avoid these situations, please tell your physician! Every doctor in our CENTER has a mission to relieve the suffering of patients, so if you can timely report your personal situation to the doctors, they can provide you with better care.

There are many different ways of treating Chinese medicine. Every Chinese medicine doctor in our clinic will do his best to provide you with personalized service. If you are afraid of needles, please inform your Chinese medicine doctor first.

6.

What's the difference between Chinese medicine and Western medicine?

Western medicine usually adopts a uniform standard approach to disease treatment. For example: Two people with the same disease will receive essentially the same or similar treatment, unless there is a different past medical history or individual symptoms such as allergies or intolerances develop during treatment.

Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) pays attention to the comprehensive understanding of your whole body condition and the factors affecting your daily life, including diet, mood, environment, etc., before providing the appropriate treatment for you. Therefore, two people with the same disease may receive two different treatments, depending on each person's unique condition and the underlying cause of the disease.
